AMU Women’s Polytechnic Holds Anti-Ragging Awareness Drive

Aligarh, August 20, 2025 – The University Women’s Polytechnic of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme to educate students on the dangers of ragging and to reinforce the importance of a safe and respectful academic atmosphere.

The programme included interactive sessions where students discussed the definition of ragging, its psychological and social consequences, and the legal implications associated with such behavior. Participants were also encouraged to actively oppose bullying and support peers who may be at risk. At the end of the event, students pledged to uphold the principle of “Zero Tolerance to Ragging” and to foster mutual respect on campus.

Convener of the programme, Dr. Sheeba Manzoor, highlighted the Polytechnic’s dedication to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free learning space. She also introduced the members of the Anti-Ragging Committee, underlining their role in ensuring student welfare.

Practical guidance was provided to students about the available support systems. Contact details of the National Anti-Ragging Helpline (1800-180-5522) and AMU’s dedicated helplines were shared to help them seek assistance when required.

Faculty members Mr. Ajmal Kafeel and Dr. Sheeba Kamal also addressed the gathering, engaging with students and reinforcing the collective responsibility of creating a safe campus environment.

Through these awareness sessions, students gained not only information but also the confidence to resist ragging and promote a culture of dignity and solidarity within the university.
