AMU Students Join Hands with Municipal Corporation for ‘Clean Aligarh, Healthy Aligarh’ Drive

Aligarh, August 19, 2025 – A city-wide cleanliness initiative, “Clean Aligarh, Healthy Aligarh”, was launched by the Aligarh Municipal Corporation with an inaugural event attended by the Mayor, Municipal Commissioner, Member of Parliament, MLAs, MLC, Divisional Commissioner, and other senior officials. The campaign received a major boost with the enthusiastic participation of faculty members and students from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The rally was formally flagged off by MP Satish Gautam.

From AMU’s Department of Social Work, senior faculty including Prof. Mohammad Naseem Khan, Dr. Mohammad Tahir, Dr. Mohammad Arif Khan, Dr. Shyna Saif, Dr. Mohammad Uzair, and Dr. Sameera Khanam joined with their students in the awareness march. The university’s National Service Scheme (NSS) Coordinator, Dr. Mohammad Mohsin Khan, and Member-in-Charge of the Public Relations Office, Prof. Vibha Sharma, also marked their presence.

Over the next few weeks, AMU students will carry forward the campaign spirit through field activities across the city. They will conduct door-to-door and marketplace visits, motivating residents to maintain cleanliness, dispose of waste responsibly, and avoid unhealthy practices like spitting in public spaces.

The university leadership emphasized that AMU views civic engagement and public welfare as integral to its social mission. By joining the campaign, students and teachers reaffirmed their commitment to contribute to the creation of a healthier and more livable Aligarh.
